David Cook, MD, FAAFP, Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Cook is co-founder and CEO of One Health Consulting Group. Since 1993, he’s been successful in building advanced primary care that can evolve with the ever-changing healthcare climate. He takes pride in creating a space for provider wellness and system health – while providing the most efficient, evidence-based and compassionate care for the individual.

Dr. Cook’s passion is to help healthcare systems, physician practices, large and small businesses, governmental organizations, communities, not-for-profits, venture capital groups and others transform how they deliver and obtain primary care. He believes in responsible disruption that enhances the lives of every individual within a community, while improving the financial success and well-being of those involved in obtaining and delivering healthcare.

Dr. Cook has years of experience in physician leadership and served as co-president of the fifth largest medical group in the United States, as well as the senior vice president of value-based care, population health and innovation within another major health system.

Prior to founding One Health Consulting Group, Dr. Cook was the co-founder and medical director of one of the most innovative primary care groups in the Charlotte market. A board-certified family medicine physician, he helped found the family medicine residency program at a top health system in Charlotte, NC. Dr. Cook also helped found Lake Norman Community Health Clinic, where he continues to serve as medical director and a board member.

Dr. Cook completed his medical school training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his residency at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. He has three wonderful children and lives in the Lake Norman area. His interests include healthcare economics, primary care delivery, integrated healthcare delivery, population health, healthcare disparities, spirituality in medicine and value-based care.
