Christopher Zagar, MD, Chief Academic Officer

Originally from Albuquerque, Dr. Chris Zagar attended the University of New Mexico for his undergraduate and medical school training. He completed his residency in 2003 at Cabarrus Family Medicine Residency Program in Concord, NC.

After 13 years in private practice, Dr. Zagar spent 6 years as a core faculty physician teaching and mentoring family medicine residents during their 3-year training program. While functioning as the residency program’s lead clinician and lab director, Dr. Zagar also served as the chair of the department of family medicine at NH Huntersville Medical Center.

Dr. Zagar enjoys treating the wide range of problems encountered in family medicine and he has a special interest in preventive cardiology and diabetes. Dr. Zagar has a passion for teaching and is looking forward to providing services that improve patient care across the organization.

Dr. Zagar is the father of 2 children (son and daughter) and enjoys spending time running, snow skiing and hiking. Please welcome Dr. Zagar to the One Health Family!
